Favourite Game OST's/tTacks?

Seen the discussion of favourite games and such, don’t think we’ve had this one yet so here we go!

I could list alot myself, so i shall

This one mostly for nostalgia as it was one of the first games I played on the ps2, still it is referenced to this day as other EDF games use the motif of this song in their menu themes

Another classic, really adds to the games atmosphere as the world struggles with its first alien invasion

4.1 has some bangers, i believe the audio guy is the same one who made the darangopa soundtrack, masafumi takada, and he goes hard with these

5 has some incredible tracks too, as does 6

Genuinely when this one came on and the base doors opened, it made me tear up, going through the game and every time this door opened up on a ruined world destroyed by the invaders, and this time it shows humanity thriving and intact after the invasion, the credits song too is great

And the EDF’s theme the soldiers sing

Honourable edf mentions

Iron rains OST is weirdly hard to come by, meanwhile insect armageddon has the entire thing

The world brothers games also have very good tracks

And now for a variety of non-edf ones, if it isn’t clear i really like these games

There is probably many more i could add, but this is getting long with alot of things and the site keeps saying drafts offline so i think its mad at me, leave your equally long lists below :3

I have a bunch of OSTs I like, too many to list, but here’s one off the top of my head:

So many to think of! A few off the top of my head:

Now that I’m thinking about it, don’t think that I have favorite OST songs that I picked up on while playing (kind of the point of a game OST, I suppose). But I did find some random songs over the years that I really liked. In no particular order:

Game Title Artist Link
SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE SUPERHOT (Hyperhot Mix) Zardonic YouTube
Sonic Frontiers Undefeatable SEGA SOUND TEAM(?) YouTube
Super Hexagon Courtesy Chipzel YouTube
The Impossible Game Fire Aura Kid2Will YouTube
Roboquest Connect Noisecream YouTube
Soulcreek Main Theme Ryuo YouTube

Picked just one for Roboquest, though pretty much all the tracks from the full OST are really good. Also, I don’t think Ryuo has uploaded the previous version of the Soulcreek main theme (that was used during development) so I’m linking the final version, which also really good. Probably would never listen to it on my own, but it fits really, really well with the VN.

…ok ya, I aint going to even attempt to pretend there is any theme to the chosen soundtracks, I mostly just tried to think of something memorable for a few years each. Still adding a line of justification each though :P

Minecraft probably has the most iconic chiptune-y OST, but until anyone did that here - let’s briefly re-throne FTL’s soundtrack :D

Still processing impact this and Outer Wilds left on my being, tbh. Someone else will post the awesomeness that is the OW’s music though (and if you played it, highly recommend the interview with the composer for it!); I am here to promote what a hell of a job Sea Power did for Disco, just let it build a little while.

It’s a strategy game, and the current day community at large is… at best questionable, but seriously it has been a long time since I heard a fittingly appropriate musical backing for a map painting simulator xD

Hated getting into it, persevered after a friend insisted, came out with a solid placement in a personal top-3 of FPS’s; and for all their faults, Bungie knows how to get clicking-on-heads done to way too good of an OST (just ask any D2 player, former or current)

…honestly, going through this made me bump a replay of this one waaaaay up on the list. Again, whoever decided to put that much effort into music for, of all things, a political choose your own adventure game is a genius

And ok, this one is a bit of a cheat because this is a re-recording of an old musical piece, but it did have to be re-arranged for the game, aaaand it’s one of the two earliest soundtracks that I remember from a non-edutainment game in the first place so now it’s everyone else’s problem to solve :P

Big nostalgia for MTGDOTP 2013. Other than that, just about anything from Warframe/Soulframe

Gosh, there are so many soundtracks I love! But I’ll leave one song per game I love, I highly urge you all to give each of the games a listen, they’re bangers I believe!

FFXIV: My literal favorite game of all time. Such a banger soundtrack, every soundtrack is memorable for me. And especially each expansion’s main theme, this one being for Endwalker. The lyrics and the guitar, guh its peak. And this one uses musical callbacks to every other expansion before it, making it even more fuckin sick of a song!

Dragon Quest: Very chill and relaxing, helps me sleep! Brings me back to childhood days, a warmth of joy fills my soul listening to this series’s music

Phantasy Star Online 2: Very anime in feel, super energetic most the time with some fuckin tearjerkers (Eternal Encore my GOAT  )

Gravity Rush 2: So many good instrumentals, one of the vocal ones is a banger tho

Baldur’s Gate 3: I fuckin love this song particularly. There are many wonderful ones but this takes the cake for me

And thats all I can think of! I love music so much :3

The outer wilds ost is one I return to quite often. And of course C418 and the minecraft soundtrack are great to listen to in the background while working on something.

Oh man, SiivaGunner is one of my favorite channels so I could probably go on and on about OSTs, but I’ll just share some of the ones I really like from my favorite games.

And then, like, almost all of the FFXIV soundtrack, but this one has a special place in my heart for its context in the story. For more fun listening, everything from the Arcadion raids has been so sick.

Will say that a lot of tracks from a lot of different games are ones I enjoy listening to that…well, if I was to try listing them all off, it’d take me all day >_<. Will at least say what games/series’ a lot of them come from, which include but aren’t limited to:

Sonic The Hedgehog, Super Mario (mainly some of the 3d games), Xenoblade, Kingdom Hearts, Persona, JSRF, Project Moon, and Undertale/Deltarune

There is plenty of famous series I like the music, like Kirby, Zelda, Star Fox and Megaman, I would highlight touhou, since the sole creator is mostly composer and inspired other indie works like Undertale, lots of experimentation and set the tone perfectly for the stages and characters

Also would mention The King of Fighters with some awesome bangers while fighting

and Mad Rat Dead since is a rhythm game has some nice themes by different composers, perfect for the different emotions in the story
