Tips for animating?

So I’ve been trying to learn more about Blender but I’ve been struggling pretty hard so far to grasp even the basic ideas.

Initially I struggled with how to even get models into Blender and arrange them as such, but I think I kinda got the hang of it now and feel like I can try making them do something with keyframes. Here’s the 2 most complex things I managed to do so far:

I was wondering when it comes to animating and keyframes if people have resources on how to get started? Most of the stuff I found is focused on making still renders or model creation, and the Blender documentation seems horrendous.

Personally I find it best when I can make something super basic from start to finish then improve on it over time. So for example I would love to just make the yeen walk without needing to study walk pattern behaviour, even if it looks crappy. I’ll feel more motivated seeing a result and then improving that through practise after. Or is this approach just kinda tough luck with Blender and I’m better off really tuning down my expectations and just going back to a cube? :alz_laughin:

On the note on walking patterns; I know the Autodesk suite for example has great tools for making things do basic actions like that, and that things like Mixamo exist, but I have no clue where to even begin for Blender.

Well- I guess I can recommend these very basic videos to get an idea of the basic computer graphics fundamentals: https://www.youtube.com/@GuerrillaCG/videos

And you also have the Typical donut making :v https://youtu.be/z-Xl9tGqH14

Also on the animation front: https://youtu.be/1_WbNMZplIQ & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_WbNMZplIQ&list=PLsGl9GczcgBtRc3DalXy786Fsa5yEq_9B (Nice playlist)

Using your full body as mocap is an option!
No need to animate ^^

I don’t know any of the specifics, but I know of people who animate this way

Unfortunately my animating skill is right now limited to Source Filmmaker, otherwise I’d be able to help more. I still need to try to learn Blender animating.
