I’m always curious to know how people got interested in macro/micro/size difference/etc. Were there any specific media that influenced your “size awakening”?
For myself, there are a lot of cartoons with size difference that had an effect on me, but one other influence that I can specifically point to is that I really liked Power Rangers. At the end of most episodes, the monster-of-the-day is forced to grow GIANT and the heroes must fight in a giant robot called the Megazord in order to stop the monster from destroying the city. Usually, the Megazord wins and saves the day.
But I always thought it was better to be the monster because the monster actually gets to BE huge and tower over everything whereas the Rangers are just pushing buttons in a robot. That probably led to me liking being huge now! :3
How about you? What’s your size-affinity origin story?
My true “Size awakening” was probably weird one, especially from Jimmy Neutron’s cartoon episode, where his friend, wanted to pass the class. And Jimmy made a machine to make him smart, also increasing his brain size too.
I think I’ve always been into it for as long as I can remember, cartoons def were a huge source of inspiration for realizing so many other ways to grow could be a fun trigger, but I just remember wanting to grow gigantic ever since I was a kid really and only finding more “YEAH THAT TOO!!” moments by seeing growth and macro in cartoons, movies, stories and so on!
The big ones for me are the CatDog episode “Pumped,” the game “Rampage,” the MonStars from “Space Jam,” and the Looney Tunes classic “King Size Canary” among dozens of others
I honestly dunno, but I know for sure it started with human muscle growth online. Then I realized they could grow in SIZE and I fell down that rabbit hole. I saw myself addicted and stuck on watching guys grow bigger and taller… it did something to my brain and then it kinda led me to the furry community too
For me it was some random children’s book actually. I cannot remember for the life of me what the name was or who even made it but all I remember it was about some rabbit that didn’t like sharing and that made it grow bigger?? I might be misremembering the plot of that thing to hell and back but it was the thing that made me realize that bigger is better.
For me it was that damned blue dragon animation on FurAffinity that just wouldn’t stop growing. I’m sure literally every soul that likes macro/growth knows what I’m talking about
I don’t want to say that “it occurred to me on my own” because I don’t think that’s possible lmao
But genuinely how I got into it was that I made a character who’s a thief and mage. Then one day I was like “so what happens if he’s trying to shake someone up but they don’t have any gold or treasure on them?” Bippity boppity boo, I like size/attribute theft now lol
It’s probably not too surprising that cartoons were involved for me as well. Episodes of Tom & Jerry, Loony Tunes (you know that one Road Runner toon) and various Saturday Morning cartoons laid the foundation. And like you, the OG Power Rangers kinda poked me in a way that stuck. Despite the likes of Goldar looming over the camera in the second half of each episode, I didn’t want to see myself as the camera, I wanted to be the monster. I wanted folks to look up at me.
Those feelings just kind of sat there for awhile longer until I was in the furry fandom a few years and I learned about macro. Folks like Ken Sample opened my eyes because then I realized that you could just… be a giant critter. It would still be awhile before I would just go and stomp around as a macro full time, evolving the otter character I had been since about 2004 into what I am now. But instead of taking inspiration from the cartoons I watched when I was a kid, I took inspiration from others in the fandom and became my own glorious thing!
Honestly I’m glad I did. Being a massive, friendly monster is the best thing that’s happened to me.
I’ve always been a fan of robots and the like, and eventually that led to mechs. Which then led to kaiju and all that. I can’t really point out a specific thing that like, opened my eyes, I think I kinda just thought “giant things fighting is cool”, and then I think just through various tropes in shows and media, with there being a bully or whatever who typically is a fair bit larger than the person they’re, bullying, or like, the dynamic duo of a big strong guy and smart small guy. Then it just got all jumbled into my brain in the teenage years where suddenly everything that was cool, was hot. And then you start exploring those feelings and the hole gets ever deeper.
For me, I can’t quite place exactly when it happened, but I definitely know that Dark Cloud 1’s intro cutscene played a big part for me. If you know, you know. @///@
Ferngully’s lizard as well! Macro and vore go very hand in hand for me, so it checks out that those two would be so impactful for me.
It was definitely Magic School Bus that got me interested in size-changing stuff at a young age. Later on there were other cartoons that had me fascinated by the idea of unaware scenarios and stuff, where just by simply existing, they were having a catastrophic effect on the tiny folks around them.
Then I discovered Furries, FurAffinity, AND the macro/micro tag on the same day, and it was aaaaaaaall downhill from there
Okay but looking back now, I remember playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl on the Wii and doing the Special battle where you can have your characters already giant sized, adding the Super Mushroom which grows them even BIGGER, and specifically playing as Mario since he had a taunt that was him just growing, so I’d get 3 size mutlipliers. It wasn’t a kink at the time, but I remember doing it often, so it was the seed planted in my mind x3
Also like, the Mega Mushroom was also my favorite power up at the time, so that could’ve started it as well. Again no really kinky thoughts, just liking the idea of it. It wasn’t until Junior High around the age of 15-16 that I was getting hard off of growing
Jerry from Tom and Jerry was a huge one for me. Literally x3 I love when Jerry grows huge, and the dynamic changes between him and Tom! So adorable!
Also, this is probably completely unknown, but when I was in elementary school I read “Mike and The Magic Cookies” and that was when I first knew I was interested in transforming. I loved the bunny transformation (I wonder why) and the transformation into the big strong ape x3
I don’t entirely know what got me into it, but I can vaguely remember liking the concept of giant characters since I was like 3. And then since I joined the furry community, I almost immediately found the macro side, and made my sona a macro to fit with that interest I’ve always had for giants.
