I’ve been thinking about getting a VR headset for multiple reasons, VRChat being one of them, but since right now I don’t have that particularly much money, I’ve been postponing these kinds of big purchases until I have a stable source of disposable income.
What would you suggest to someone wishing for a VR headset to buy, without it necessarily being the most recent thing or of top notch quality, and for it to be on the middling cheaper side budget wise?
hmm… the steam frame is coming out in a few months at most, so it might be beneficial to wait a bit longer if you’re okay with that. if you really need a decent headset now, the quest 3 is fine for that, although you’d have to deal with meta’s metaness (they make their software very annoying).
Yeaaah, I really didn’t wanna be beholden to facebook so I got a used vive. They’re really cheap now, you can get them for like $200.
“Cheaper” being relative, I doubt the Steam Frame will hit that side of the budget, you’ll likely want to look into the Quest 3 (notably NOT the Quest 3S!).
With it being one of the most popular headsets a lot of extension kits (eye+face tracking) are being made for it specifically so you’ll have upgrade options down the line without needing a fully new headset.
Since you’re from Europe! I will suggest that going for a Pico 4 is a great option!
Its pretty cheat, if you dont mind looking up on facebook market place you can possibly get it even cheaper and the specs are just as good as the Quest 3 expect, I think the resoultion is a little better on the Q3! Regardless! You get access to pancake lenses which really improves your sweet spot on your field of view!
