The Fal’Draconis are a race of space-faring Half-dragon, half-other-animal hybrids that are innately magical by nature. While they used to call a distant planet their home, a disaster that happened a long time ago forced them to the stars. Traveling on a set of massive space arks (including a moon-sized space station with 12 smaller satellites orbiting it), they spread out amongst the stars, establishing colonies across many worlds while in search of a planet they could call their new home.
Biologically, the Fal’Draconis are drastically different from what you may be familiar with for normal biology. One of the most prominent of which is their circulatory system, through which pink, glowing blood flows. The reason for this coloration lies in the fact that mana (which they refer to as “Vis”) actually flows through their veins, upon which they can draw upon to perform magical feats more easily than mages of other races would be able to at the cost of exhausting them far more if they overuse magic. The source of this magic in their blood lies with their hearts that, rather than looking like any ordinary heart, bear a tough, crystalline coating and have a spherical shape to them. These hearts are referred to as “Kornari”, and it’s possible for a Fal’Draconian have more than one, up to a max of 3 through natural means. Of course, as one might imagine, having more Kornari naturally makes a Fal’Draconian FAR stronger with their magical abilities, with those that bear 3 hearts, though exceedingly rare, being practically Demi-gods. On top of all that, so long as a Fal’Draconian has an intact Kornari (and aren’t suffering from “Vis-sickness”, where they’re essentially out of mana and would require time to generate enough to be healthy again), they’re virtually immortal, as they also have a natural healing factor that lets them regenerate nearly their entire body from just their Kornari.
Outside of their hearts and blood, most other biological organs, functions, and habits are fairly similar to whatever hybrid-type they are, such as a Lykofos (the hybrid-type Lykonous and his siblings are, being part wolf) having an innately keen sense of smell and hearing. However, thanks to the dragon side of their hybrid genetics, hybrid-types that would normally have sub-par to non-existent sensory organs of a sense type instead have such organs to grant them on a level that’s just slightly above the level of the average human. For example, a Fal’Draconian that is part bat, while still having exceptional hearing, would still be able to see just a bit better than the average man. One thing to note, however, is that among all members of the species, they will always bear draconic eyes, pointy ears, and at least one horn.
As for their genetics, they are rather chaotic in a general sense due to Fal’Draconian DNA having polymorphic properties, but they do follow a bit of a pattern. For instance, two parents of similar hybrid-type will most likely have children of either hybrid-type. Two parents bearing the same hybrid-type will, of course, guarantee children of that same hybrid-type. If the two parents are of drastically different hybrid-types, though, the resulting children will end up with an entirely random hybrid-type themselves, though the type will only be one that already exists amongst the species as a whole. It is, however, possible for new hybrid-types to be created though para-species interactions, and once the new hybrid-type is introduced, the genetic info will be absorbed by the species over time to allow more of that Hybrid-type to be born.
So, yeah, this is my own Original Species. I will eventually go over more of this species in time as I workshop them, and some aspects are subject to change, but I feel this is a good starting point for talking about them, no?
I will also say that you’re free to make your own Fal’Draconian OCs, just so long as attribution of the species as a whole is given to me and you leave any modifications/concepts open for interpretation by others. (Basically the species is CC BY-SA.)
