Here’s some pictures of my vrchat avatar in unity! I’ve built this thing from scratch which has been a lot of work. I’m really happy with it though. I’ve been using the new jackal scale system and just added the seat system too. I have a buff mode you can see in the images. Its been really rewarding to make! I also just added visemes and hopefully I’ll add expressions soon. I made sure there’s a good seat to see how my mouth moves from inside for anyone interested :3

I’ll also try to be at as many of the vrchat meetups as I can as they are a blast! I’m also going to have fullbody tracking soon (assuming I can make the trackers work well) so I’ll be able to really look the part!
Thanks for all the kind words! I dont know the exact times on any of this, but I’ve been working on the avatar on and off for the last 6-9 months or so. I think the sculpting was a few sessions of a couple hours, so like 5-10 hours total. Retopology was a nightmare and took like 2 weeks of regular couple hour sessions to finish, so like 24 hours total there im guessing. Maybe i could have done it faster but i really wanted it to follow the muscles and structure really well for easier and better blend shapes. The armature and weight painting werent to bad but took some back and forth with testing how they looked. A few hours there. Addons like jackal seat, jackal scale and gogoloco took a couple hours to bug test. I also recently put in the tail and visemes which took a few hours. And the blendshapes for the bigger muscles was like 5 hours or more of sculpting probably. Though im probably going to put even more time into that at some point.
Ima be honest I dont think I realized just how much time I put into this until now. These are estimates so I could be notably above or below the actual time, but it looks like I’ve put in over 2 days of working time into this avatar over the last few months. Worth every second though because now I have an avatar that is distinctly mine.
It really is. With all the time i’ve put into it it really does feel like an extenstion of myself. I am also hoping to get a fursuit at some point, but this is nice in the meantime
