The Jackal’s Glimmer - Chapter 1 - Bread and Wine
(Dog Transformation, Reality Shifting, Hypnosis, Cock and Balls, The Big Horny)
Jets of water shot from the ornate marble fountain, carved into arches by the will of that powerful sorcerer, gravity. Amos took it in with a smile. The plaza looked wonderful tonight, rich light gleaming from nearby metal lamps, alighting the glimmering minerals within the white stone paths. An array of flowering shrubs and fruiting trees swayed in the Summer breeze. And the moon. Oh, it was bright tonight. What an absolute treat.
“Tonight’s been really great, Kai.”
Amos smiled over at the handsome man by his side. They held hands as they sat on a recycled bench, a charcoal backdrop for their warm bodies. A backdrop for Amos’s small bronzed hand squeezing Kai’s pale, lanky hand.
“You… really enjoyed yourself?” Kai asked.
Amos couldn’t believe how timid Kai sounded asking that. A man so handsome, yet so worried. It would’ve amused him more, had Amos been less kind.
“Of course, Kai. Besides the long wait, dinner was great. The view tonight is gorgeous, and conversation with you is nice. You’re a little strange… but it’s been nice getting to know you. So let’s go on another date sometime, huh?”
Kai smiled back with excitement, but he struggled to look Amos in the eyes.
“I… that means quite an extraordinary amount, Amos. But I ’m not sure-”
Amos calmly cut him off. “Whatever’s on your mind, you can relax, Kai.”
Kai continued to stare at the ground solemnly. Amos paused for a moment, huffed, and then gently lifted Kai’s gaze to the stars.
“Come on, Kai. Look at the stars with me for a moment, won’tcha?”
Kai blinked, his golden gaze settling on the moon as Amos smiled at him gently.
“Look at each one of those stars. Do you know how long they’re gonna live?” Amos said with a smile.
Kai paused for a moment, and then began pointing at the different stars.
“Seven million planetary cycles. Two point one six billion planetary cycles. One hundred and thirty four million planetary cycles.”
Amos started snickering, and Kai looked at him, a little confused.
“What?” Kai asked, confused.
Amos gazed at him with a soft smile.
“Yeah, yeah, funny guy. That’s my point though. Each and every one of these stars will be alive for a long, long time. Longer than either of us will be there. You might be worried about something, but it’s so itty bitty compared to that. So if you’re holding something in. Just tell me. It’s okay.”
Kai opened his mouth, and took a deep breath.
“Okay. Amos. I have a confession.”
Amos waved his hand to the empty courtyard.
“Speak your truth, big guy.”
Kai winced in anticipation.
“Amos, this… isn’t the first time we’ve met.”
Amos blinked. His smile melted into pure confusion.
“Really? I could’ve sworn I’ve never met you before. You’re so… memorable!”
Kai sighed, and finally looked into Amos’s eyes.
“That’s because I took your memories, Amos.”
Amos stared at Kai, absolutely bewildered.
“I need to show you, Amos. I don’t want to hold anything in.”
As Amos tried to stand and back away from Kai, his vision began to warp, and swirl. And before he could say another world, his vision dripped away into an inky black, and everything fell away.
Amos felt out of place walking into Bianchi Raffinata. He hadn’t managed to find the time to iron his black dress shirt, and his slacks were looking rather raggedy compared to the fine robes donned by most everyone else. He sighed to himself, hoping his date had been serious when he said this would be his treat.
At least the decor was nice, even if it outclassed him. There were dim candelabras lighting the many well-set tables, helping the black and gold table cloths glimmer. Seeing his date across the room, he slid past a few waiters to sit down in his gilded chair, quickly placing his charcoal floral napkin across his lap.
As he looked up from his napkin, Amos shuddered. He could feel his date’s gaze trailing over his body, inspecting him.
“Kai?”
The other man sat in silence a moment, still inspecting. Amos couldn’t help but do the same while he awaited a response. He was just as attractive in person~. His face was thin but sharp, short black hair highlighting his golden eyes. His body was lithe, but his square shoulders ran down into a built chest, and his arms were nothing to sneeze at.
“Are you Amos?”
Amos cleared his throat and smiled.
“Yes, I’m Amos. Are you Kai?”
A soft grin spread across Kai’s face.
“Yes, I am~. So… does this mean you’ve accepted my invitation to date?”
Amos tilted his head, confused.
“Ahah, well, I’m here, aren’t I?”
Kai nodded solemnly.
“Yes, I suppose that is true. My apologies, the culture of… dating, confuses me.”
Amos waved a hand at Kai and smiled.
“Ahh, I’ve been there. Yes, Kai, we’re on a date.”
Kai’s eyes lit up at the revelation.
“Wonderous! Then let us get the festivities started!”
Kai snapped his fingers and called out to the various waiters.
“Bread and wine! Now!”
Amos grimaced, absolutely mortified.
“Ahah, Kai, the waiters will come serve us eventually, you don’t need to-”
Two well-dressed waiters approached the table, setting bread and wine onto their table as their thick, bushy tails wagged. They smiled at Kai, bowed, and left to help other patrons.
Amos’s mouth was agape. Kai looked at Amos nervously.
“Oh no. Come on Kairo, think.”
Amos looked over his date again, floored. Somehow, he seemed perfectly composed after being so rude. And the waiters had hardly acknowledged it, just wagging their adorable tails, seeming happy to be called upon. What was happening?!
“That- that’s just a very rude way to get their attention, don’t you think?”
Kai laughed a tad too loud.
“No no, there should be no worries, human. This is… completely natural!”
Amos’s brow furrowed. Kai seemed totally unaware of what he’d just done. He was just wagging that big black tail of his and smiling*,* completely comfortable. Amos felt so disoriented and confused. Something felt so wrong. He didn’t remember everyone around having tails, but they all seemed to?
“You… have a… tail. What’s… happening…”
Kai forced a grin and scratched Amos’s long, fuzzy ears.
“Of course we have tails. Why wouldn’t we? “
Amos’s mind felt so foggy. He looked down at himself with doubt, but Kai was right! His big, fluffy, golden tail was right there by his side, where it always rested. It was perfectly natural for people to have big fuzzy tails and ears. Kai’s were no different, after all, giant and black, and so delightfully fuzzy. Amos reached out and scratched them instinctively, his tongue drooping from his mouth. It felt so good to scratch those big, handsome ears of Kai’s. He deserved to be loved so tenderly.
“Stop worrying! I’ ‘ve made great plans and waiters for the evening, you’ll see!”
Amos blinked, snapping out of his trance for a moment. Something very strange was going on. Wait a second. Amos looked at Kai with scrutiny.
“You… made the waiters? Like, you’re in charge of them? Kai, do you… own this restaurant?”
Kai stared at Amos blankly.
“… Yes!”
Amos stared back, not sure if he believed the man.
“Uh-huh…”
But as Kai gently wagged that big, strong tail of his, and began chowing down on the bread, Amos found himself gently moaning, drawn to that tail, his worries subsiding.
“Ahah, why don’t we start our feast, little beast? ”
Amos blushed as Kai called him that lovely name, and Kai looked mortified.
“Sure…”
At the very least, Amos couldn’t deny how delicious the bread tasted. It was so savory and buttery and starchy, it was really helping him sink into an even more comfortable state. It was kind of like how his sharpening teeth were sinking further and further in with each bite! He smiled again at Kai as their waiter took away their menus post order. Kai gave him a careful, sharp smile in return, hardly picking at his own food.
“So, you own this restaurant?”
Kai blinked at Amos.
“The post didn’t say what you do, but I guess that makes sense. I was wondering how you could afford so much. Not that I came here because of your wealth, ahah~.”
Kai nodded.
“Yes, I… own this restaurant, and that’s why I… have access to such material wealth. It is simple math.”
Amos laughed gently.
“Not such simple math for me I guess.”
He turned away slightly and scratched his neck. What was he doing talking to some handsome, tall, bigshot? He was proud of the career he’d managed, but he hardly had wealth to brag about, and Kai was so much dreamier than him. So much taller. Was he getting bigger?
“I… don’t really have a ton of that to offer. I’ve found a little bit of stability, but… if you’re looking for someone as stable as you, big guy, I might not… be your best option.”
Kai gave him another confused stare, then shook his head.
“I do not care about such things. I am not looking for material things, as much as a partner to stare at the sea with. To ponder the incomprehensible size of the stars and galaxy while holding one another, amazed by how small and insignificant we are, but blips that will one day be wiped off the map and perish.”
Amos was stunned again.
“Uh, yeah. I’d totally… I want to do that.”
The two stared at each other. Kai’s panic returned.
“Oh, I- I thought you would like such a response.”
Amos’s brain felt foggy. He rubbed his eyes, unsure exactly what he had been thinking about. Something about Kai… being such a great date? Yeah, that sounded right.
“Hah, it was a lovely response~ You’re really dreamy, ya know~”
Kai sighed with relief, and scratched his big, black dog ears.
“That is good to hear, Amos. I am admiring your company as well. May I inquire more about yourself? ”
Every minute that seemed to pass, Amos found himself swooning harder and harder for Kai. He tried to answer Kai’s questions about his career, but his answers grew shorter each time, mind swimming with pleasure.
By the time their soup and salad arrived, he found himself panting with lust, cock throbbing from under the table. That was normal of course, considering most all the waiters were eyeing him with heavy bulges of their own underneath their slacks. Kai really was a hot commodity~
“-spend your days?”
Shit. He’d been sniffing Kai’s scent so hard with his swelling black nose that he hadn’t paid any mind to what Kai had said.
“Ahahah~ What sorry?”
Kai laughed nervously as Amos’s nails thickened, and his arm hair grew golden.
“You, uh, how do you spend your days?”
Amos blinked, and began lapping up his minestrone with his long tongue.
“Oh! Uh, I spend my days playing video games. Sometimes I make crafts or draw, but I don’t have many people to show them to, so I don’t do it as much as I’d like.”
Kai grew more comfortable at that response, lapping up his own tomato bisque.
“That sounds marvelous. What crafts do you make?”
Amos shrugged.
“Oh, necklaces and rings. Cheap stuff, but it’s made with, ahah, love~”
With each word coming out of his mouth, Amos’s jaw stretched forwards, and he watched Kai’s do the same. Fuck, that muzzle~ Kai looked so hot in this lighting. So muscular, so tall~ Such a hunky canine~ He just wanted to lean forwards and-
“technique?”
Amos snapped out of it again, but not without missing the entire sentence. His cock throbbed underneath the table, smothering his pants in wet musk.
“Ahah, uhh… technique.”
Kai sniffed at the air as their hair collectively thickened, patches of fur spreading across their bodies as their nails sharpened into thick, strong claws. Amos giggled mindlessly, cock twitching. Kai frowned.
“Yes, your… your crafting technique? For the necklaces?”
Amos moaned to himself, brain getting even foggier as he tried to remember how he made those stupid necklaces of his. He licked his lips.
“Who cares. I just wanna rub our snouts together and worship that fat knot of yours~”
Kai’s eyes widened as Amos leaned across the table to kiss him. Kai leaned back.
“Oh no. Amos, perhaps you are not in the right state of mind for this.”
Amos could hardly comprehend what Kai was saying. This ripped black canine, so strong and masculine, with an absolutely delightful musk didn’t want to pound into him, and let Amos worship him all night? No. All week? What had he done wrong?!?
“Oh Master, have I done something wrong? Please, tell me how I can please you!”
Kai looked at Amos with sadness in his eyes, and stood up from the table.
“No… No! I have ruined this!”
And as Kai snapped his fingers once more, Amos’s world dripped away.
The first thing Amos heard was sorry. The first thing he saw was the snout of that midnight black canine. A giant, black-furred canine beast stood in front of him, at least eight feet tall, dressed in a white robe and an array of golden jewelry that was strung across his neck, wrists, and ankles. Amos’s eyes widened with fear. He looked around for an exit, but there was just the plaza. Beyond, there was nothing but inky blackness.
“I ’m sorry, Amos.”
What was this strange muscle-bound monster? And why were Amos’s cheeks so hot?
“You took my memories?!?”
Kai scratched the back of his giant fuzzy ear.
“I had to reset your memories.”
Amos’s eyes grew wider with panic.
“What do you mean you had to reset my memories?!?”
Kai stepped forwards as he saw Amos panic, but stepped back as he saw the fear swell in Amos’s eyes. Kai tried to get words out, but was clearly struggling, so instead, he sat down, trying to make himself smaller and less threatening. Even fully seated, he hardly had to look up into Amos’s gaze to speak. It was unsettling… though it was a nice gesture. Amos sighed.
“Kai. What do you mean you had to reset my memories?”
Kai’s ears wilted, and he took a deep breath.
“I tried to use magic to affect our first date. It caused a rupture in the environment, and it was escalating beyond my control. So I reset it.”
Amos stared into Kai’s golden eyes with a solemn frown.
“And how many times have we met? Is that why tonight was so enjoyable?”
Kai shook his head forcefully.
“No, no! I only reset us once. There’s proof in your memories, actually. When you first arrived for our date, it was 5:32 on your hand-clock. But when we started our date for the second time, your hand-clock read 5:54, didn’t it? ”
Amos thought back to his memories for a moment. He wasn’t sure if he could trust his mind, but he did remember it that way. He nodded.
“22 min-yuts was the time it took for us to get introduced, get our wine, and acquire our soup and salad. I cannot close the valve of time unless it is in a pocket like this. I sincerely swear, we’ve only met twice.”
Amos took a moment to drink in what he was being told. He didn’t know how to feel.
“Anything else?”
Kai tilted his head in thought, and his ears drooped with him. Then he perked up.
“Oh! My full name is Kairo. Not Kai.”
He looked away again, embarrassed.
“I worried Kairo did not sound human enough.”
Amos found it hard not to admire the canine’s response. His body language was so gentle in this moment, his words oozing remorse. He almost felt pity for the creature, though he swayed himself against feeling such a useless emotion.
“So, our night tonight. Was it genuine?”
Kairo nodded his head enthusiastically, and looked deeply into Amos’s eyes with a soft, golden gaze.
“Indeed, indeed! I… I did everything in my power to release my magical grip. And it was nice. Really nice. And I would love to go out on another date with you!”
Amos felt a warmth again that he couldn’t place. He instinctively forced it down, sat next to Kairo, and looked up at the monster. Why did he want to forgive Kairo?!?
“I guess… that makes me feel a little better. But I have a lot to think about, Kairo. I need a little time to sort out my thoughts. How about we both head back to our homes for the night, and then I can text you in the morning.”
Kairo laughed nervously.
“I will comply with whatever demands you request if it means we can continue to speak. I ’ll find a book immediately.”
Kairo stood up and the veil of inky blackness began to fade, the town plaza dripping into view. Amos looked at him, bewildered.
“Wait what? A book? Kairo, you know what texting is, don’t you?”
“…Is that not the silly human word for booksendings? ”
Amos’s expression darkened.
“You don’t know what texting is.”
Kairo’s tail dropped low. He sat down again, and looked away, unable to face Amos.
“I suppose I do not.”
Amos smacked himself in the face.
“I guess that’s what I get for responding to a sign post.”
Amos held his face in his hands.
“Okay… let’s both go home, and… meet here tomorrow? Can you do that? Will other people…”
He looked Kairo up and down. Kairo nodded.
“Yes, I can meet here tomorrow. You only see my true form because you’ve been touched by the appropriate magicks. I ‘ll simply find a… tree, or bush, or some form of shelter , and then we can meet here tomorrow!”
Amos’s eye twitched. He officially wanted to crawl up into a ball.
“Kairo… You don’t have a home?”
“…” Kairo looked away.
“Kairo…”
“…” He grew red with embarrassment.
“Kairo!”
“…No. I don’t. I mean, surely you can’t expect me to. I ‘ve only recently arrived to this town you call home.”
Kairo’s tail was curled deep under himself now. Amos nearly reached out a hand to pet the poor thing. He hadn’t meant to… damn it. How could he fix this?
“Well why don’t you have a home, Kairo?”
“In all fairness, I was attempting to find one.”
“And how did you plan on doing that?”
Kairo mumbled something under his breath.
“Speak up, Kairo. I can’t hear you.”
Kairo cleared his throat.
“I thought our hearts would be intertwined sooner, and you would invite me to wherever your home is.”
Amos felt a deep warmth rising up within him. Looking over the strange monster one more time, he cracked a smile again. And as rested a hand on the creature’s shoulder, he couldn’t help but laugh.
“Kairo… that’s about the dumbest plan I’ve ever heard.”
Amos grabbed Kairo’s handpaw, and squeezed it tight. Kairo grinned.
“Well, in my defense… it nearly worked.”
And Amos’s laughter rang out into the plaza.
